Petter Moen is a versatile Norwegian tenor with an extensive career across opera, concert and oratorio repertoire. Since making his professional operatic debut as Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia at Wermland Opera in Sweden, he has appeared at leading opera houses and festivals throughout Europe, including the Norwegian National Opera, Royal Danish Opera, Royal Swedish Opera, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Edinburgh International Festival. He has also appeared at Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, Nederlandse Reisopera, Theater Chemnitz and Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik.
On the concert platform, Petter has worked with orchestras including NDR Radiophilharmonie, Arctic Philharmonic, B’Rock Orchestra, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Phil, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra.
His operatic repertoire ranges from Mozart and Rossini to Wagner, Strauss, Britten and contemporary repertoire. Roles include Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Prince Ramiro in La Cenerentola and Belfiore in La finta giardiniera, alongside Froh in Wagner’s Das Rheingold, Steuermann in Der fliegende Holländer, Augustin Moser in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Brighella and Tanzmeister in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, Tchekalinsky in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades and the Novice in Britten’s Billy Budd.
Equally at home in the concert repertoire, Petter appears regularly as tenor soloist in major sacred and oratorio works. His repertoire includes Bach’s St John Passion, St Matthew Passion, Christmas Oratorio, Mass in B minor and Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and Mass in C minor, Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Paulus, Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Petite Messe solennelle, and Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings.
Highlights of autumn 2026 include Mozart’s Mass in C minor with the Danish Chamber Orchestra, Mozart’s Requiemat St Petri Church in Copenhagen, a series of Bach cantata concerts with The Baroque Society and Yngvild Ruud, and performances of Handel’s Messiah with Kammerkoret Camerata.
